After quite some difficulty acquiring the domain due to age verification madness, I was able to get it!
Attempt #1:
First, I tried registering with 101domain; who responded with this after purchasing the domain, attempting to force me into Persona’s surveillance dragnet (archived):
Notice the term “3D selfie“, that means facial recognition and biometric analysis, just to use something I already paid for:
They released the domain but did not refund me the $59 it cost to acquire the name. Oh well.
Attempt #2:
I tried going through the whois.ax registrar directly, who told me they required a drivers license and that whois privacy would not be an option. I told them to get lost.
Attempt #3:
I stumbled upon NordName, and initially they wanted a social security number to register a website (wtf!) but later backed down and said a birthday could go in that field and they’d accept it. Works for me! I gave them a birthday and registered the name.
